Flag of Belgium

Three vertical bands of black, yellow and red — the only European tricolour where the three colours are not blue, white, red or a rearrangement of these. The colours come from the coat of arms of the Duchy of Brabant — a yellow lion with red claws on a black field. Adopted shortly after Belgian independence from the Netherlands in 1830, the flag was originally horizontal but was switched to vertical in 1831 to differentiate from the Netherlands flag. Practise the Belgium flag in the Flagzio Europe flag quiz across all eight game modes.
