A red field with five gold stars in the upper-left canton — one large star and four smaller stars arranged in an arc. Red represents the revolution. The large star represents the Communist Party of China; the four smaller stars represent the four social classes — workers, peasants, urban petty bourgeoisie and national bourgeoisie — united under the party. Adopted on October 1, 1949, the day Mao Zedong proclaimed the People's Republic of China. The design was the winner of a public competition with over 2,900 submissions. Practise the China flag in the Flagzio Asia flag quiz across all eight game modes.
