Three equal horizontal bands of black, red and gold. The black-red-gold combination traces to the uniforms of the Lützow Free Corps in the Napoleonic Wars and was adopted by the 1848 German Revolution as a symbol of democratic and pan-German unity. Used by the Weimar Republic (1919–1933), restored in 1949 by both East and West Germany — though East Germany added a coat of arms. The plain tricolour has flown over reunified Germany since 1990. Practise the Germany flag in the Flagzio Europe flag quiz across all eight game modes.
