Two equal horizontal bands of blue over red with the national coat of arms — a palm tree topped by a Phrygian cap, surrounded by cannons and flags — on a white panel in the centre. Blue for Black Haitians and red for those of mixed heritage, together symbolising national unity. The Phrygian cap represents freedom, the cannons defence. Adopted on February 26, 1986. The original 1804 design was created by Jean-Jacques Dessalines by tearing the white out of the French tricolour. Practise the Haiti flag in the Flagzio Americas flag quiz across all eight game modes.
