Flag of Hungary

Three equal horizontal bands of red, white and green. Red for strength and the blood spilled in defence of the country; white for faithfulness; green for hope. Hungary has used a red-white-green tricolour since the 1848 revolution. The current plain version dates to 1957, after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution led to the removal of the communist-era coat of arms.
