Flag of Iran

Three equal horizontal bands of green, white and red, with the national emblem in red centred on the white band, and the takbir ('Allahu Akbar') written 22 times in Kufic script along the inner edges of the green and red bands. Green for Islam, growth and happiness; white for peace and freedom; red for courage and martyrdom. The emblem is a stylised composite that reads as both a tulip (symbol of martyrdom) and the word 'Allah'. The current design dates to 1980, following the Islamic Revolution. The 22 inscriptions reference the 22nd of Bahman — February 11, 1979 — the day the revolution succeeded. Practise the Iran flag in the Flagzio Asia flag quiz across all eight game modes.
