Flag of Latvia

Two horizontal bands of carmine red (top and bottom) with a narrow white band between, in proportions 2:1:2. Carmine red ('Latvian red') is darker than ordinary red and represents the blood of patriots. White represents truth and honour. First adopted in 1922; restored in 1990.
