Three vertical bands of green, white and red, with the national coat of arms in the centre — an eagle holding a serpent while perched on a cactus. The colours were originally Christian symbols: green for independence, white for purity of Catholic faith, red for the union. The coat of arms depicts the Aztec founding myth of Tenochtitlan. Mexico has used a tricolour since independence in 1821. The current emblem design dates to 1968. Easy to confuse with the Italian flag at first glance — but the central coat of arms is the clear tell. Practise the Mexico flag in the Flagzio Americas flag quiz across all eight game modes.
