Fourteen horizontal stripes alternating red and white, with a blue canton containing a yellow crescent and 14-point star. The 14 stripes and the 14 points of the star represent the unity of the 13 states and the federal government. Yellow is the royal colour of Malaysia's rulers. The crescent represents Islam. Adopted on September 16, 1963 when Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore formed Malaysia. The design echoes the US flag's stripes-and-canton structure. Practise the Malaysia flag in the Flagzio Asia flag quiz across all eight game modes.
