Maroon field with a vertical white serrated band on the hoist side — nine triangular points. Maroon is the unique colour of Qatar — caused by the local plant dye reacting with the sun over centuries. White represents peace. The nine points commemorate Qatar's status as the ninth member of the 'reconciled Emirates' under the 1916 British protectorate. Adopted on September 9, 1971 — Qatar's independence day. The only national flag whose width is more than twice its height. Practise the Qatar flag in the Flagzio Asia flag quiz across all eight game modes.
