Three equal horizontal bands of white, blue and red. Several traditional interpretations: nobility (white), honesty (blue), courage and generosity (red); or the three regions of pre-revolutionary Russia — Great, Little and White Russia. Adopted by Peter the Great in the late 17th century for the Russian merchant fleet, the flag was a state symbol until 1917, replaced by the red banner of the Soviet Union. Restored on August 22, 1991 after the failed coup — celebrated as Day of the State Flag of Russia. Practise the Russia flag in the Flagzio Europe flag quiz across all eight game modes.
